Longzhi Tan

Longzhi Tan is an MIT undergraduate student majoring in physics, with a minor in biology. Tan has always been passionate about physics, and participated in the 2008 International Physics Olympiad held in Vietnam. Tan has worked with Prof. Jeff Gore as a founding member of Jeff’s experimental biophysics lab at MIT. Tan joined the Sabeti Lab in May, 2011. Tan is currently working on a human gene under recent natural selection, EDAR, which encodes the ectodysplasin-A receptor. He aims to estimate the origin of the selected allele in East Asia, and to reveal the driving force of its natural selection. Besides doing serious work, Tan loves all sorts of jokes and cute things.
