SAMAR MEHTA

SamarM
Samar is a postdoctoral fellow in the Sabeti lab and a clinical fellow in Infectious Diseases at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Samar studies combining genomic, clinical and epidemiologic data to better understand seasonal and annual fluctuations in Lassa fever in Nigeria.

Samar completed his Ph.D. in David Kleinfeld’s lab at the University of California, San Diego, working on a model of sensorimotor processing in the rat neocortex. He then completed medical school and an Internal Medicine/Emergency Medicine combined residency at the State University of New York, Downstate campus, with a year in between spent working on antiretroviral resistance with Eric Arts (then at Case Western) and the Joint Clinical Research Centre in Kampala, Uganda.

Samar is currently supported by a training grant through Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Division of Infectious Disease.
