Christopher Shin is a junior at Harvard College, double concentrating in Chemical & Physical Biology and Government with a secondary in Music. Originally from Cherry Hill, NJ, his academic and research experiences have cultivated a strong interest in global health, infectious disease epidemiology, and viral genomics. In the Sabeti Lab, he is working to characterize how intrahost single-nucleotide variants (iSNVs) map viral diversity and evolutionary dynamics in SARS-CoV-2 and Mpox, while also exploring the sociocultural implications of infectious disease response and public policy. Outside the lab and classroom, Christopher is an avid classical pianist, recognized as a 2023 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. He often performs solo and chamber music concerts in Cambridge and Boston, balancing his passion for music with his academic pursuits.
His work has been supported by the Herchel Smith Fellowship and the Harvard Global Health Institute.
