Indumathi Prakash is an undergraduate at Harvard University concentrating in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy. She works with Dr. Jacob Lemieux on tick-borne disease research. Her project involves finding a direct approach to detecting Lyme disease where current PCR and serological tests fall short. This approach uses target capture and sequencing to create a more sensitive test. She aspires to become a physician-scientist involved in treating infectious diseases and runs a multilingual program to increase tick prevention awareness for immigrants. Indumathi’s work has been generally supported by the Harvard College Research Program (HCRP).
