SID RAJU

DSC_3002 copy

Sid Raju was a Ph.D. student in the Systems, Synthetic, and Quantitative Biology Program at Harvard. He officially joined the Sabeti Lab in March 2020, just as the COVID-19 lockdowns in Massachusetts began. During his training in the Sabeti Lab, he seeks to determine common factors which allow viruses to spread more effectively.

Sid received his B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Physics at Emory University, where he studied desmosome structure and order in the lab of Dr. Alexa Mattheyses. After graduating in 2016, he briefly left academia to work at the electronic medical record company Epic, where he served as a technical project manager for software implementations at Shannon Health in San Angelo, TX and Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta, GA. Following this short year at Epic, he moved out to the Bay Area for two years, where he worked jointly in the labs of Drs. Alex Marson, Jimmie Ye, and Matt Spitzer at UCSF. While there, he developed novel computational tools and used them to analyze large genomics datasets in order to develop intuitions about immune system dynamics in both cancer and autoimmune diseases.

Outside of the lab, Sid enjoys running around Cambridge, binging reality tv shows, and finding new hikes in New England.
